The Midway USA Chapter of NCRS
promotes the enjoyment, preservation and restoration of Chevrolet Corvettes.
We meet the 2nd Saturday of each month at Davis-Moore Chevrolet 8200 West Kellogg.
This web site is still in it's infancy, much like our chapter.
Please send an email to midwayusa@ncrs.org if you would like to contact us.
The road to the formation of the Kansas Chapter of NCRS, Inc. has been somewhat a labor of love, or if you ask my wife, an obsession. In 2004 I joined the national organization wanting to learn more about the car I had not been able to enjoy for my child rearing years. As time passed I wondered why nobody had taken the initiative to set up a chapter in the Wichita and western Kansas area. Many of you have, I’m sure, shared my curiosity on why this hasn’t been done before now. As I found out, it was a lot of work, and maybe that was why. Having plenty of time on my hands, and very few brains, in March of 2008 I began the trek to find out what it took to set up a chapter.
After nine months, dozens of emails, phone calls, personal visits with NCRS directors, lots of conversations with local interested people, planning and online research, all the work came to the forefront with the first meeting of the Kansas Chapter of NCRS. However, it’s not over. Now, the waiting game begins.
On March 29, 2009 our regional director, Gary Chesnut will present our application and information to the national board of directors for their vote on acceptance of our chapter as a probational chapter of the national organization. Months of work will, I feel, turn into a chapter that all of us, the charter members of the chapter, will be able to look back on and say “I was there when this happened.”
Nearly every worthwhile cause starts with an individual or small group. Like the NCRS, started by either a California turkey farmer who liked to fly and liked collecting Corvettes, or 7 guys in Indiana, our chapter started with an idea and a small group. However, without the support of many, the causes often go away with little impact. Thanks to all those charter members that appear in the pages of this newsletter, we have paved the way of help each other, and those yet to come enjoy the hobby and automobile we all care so much about.
