Biography

John E. Conder, age 90, passed away peacefully on Sunday, September 11, 2022. He was born in Detroit, MI on April 24, 1932, to the late John Conder and Girlenden (Breece) Conder. Beloved husband of Constance (Smith) Conder for 65 years and loving father to J. Daniel (Josie) Conder, Tim (Sheri) Conder and Andrea (Keith) Bridges. Loving grandfather to Kim Bridges, Rebecca Bridges, Jacquelyn (Bridges) Erwel, Thomas Bridges, Joseph Conder, Michael Conder, and Kevin Conder. Great grandfather to Love Bridges. He is survived by many nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by granddaughter Claire Conder. John was a 1950 graduate of Mackenzie High School. He attended Highland Park Junior College, Michigan State University, and Wayne State University, where he graduated with a degree in Mortuary Science. He worked at the Maytag Company for 32 years as a salesman covering the City of Detroit and the downriver communities. John was drafted into the Army in 1952 and served as Sergeant of Big Red 7th Field & Artillery Division of Fire Direction Control while stationed in Germany until 1954. In 2018, he was privileged to be selected for the Mid-Michigan Honor Flight to Washington DC and Arlington National Cemetery. John enjoyed collecting and restoring classic cars, particularly Corvettes, and was a member of the NCRS. He was also an outdoorsman and avid gardener at Thayer Community Gardens. John spent much of his retirement with his dear wife Connie at their home in Leland, MI and Northville residence in Kings Mill. John was a fun-loving man and loved by all who knew him. He will be greatly missed. A military ceremony will begin at 11 am on Monday, September 19, 2022, in Rural Hill Cemetery’s Veterans’ Section in Northville, MI and a gathering of family and friends will be held at Genitti’s Hole-in-the-Wall (108 E.
