Obituary of Herbert James Harlton

Herbert James Harlton, formerly of Birmingham, Michigan died peacefully on October 22, 2022, with his daughters at his side. He was born on July 5, 1942, in Detroit to the late Virginia L. and William F. Harlton. Preceded in death by his wife Carolyn, he is survived by his daughters Michelle (Craig) McCrackin and Nicole, and his siblings Julie (Dan) Woods and Bruce (Kathryn). Even though he was seriously injured in a motorcycle accident at age 25, he was incredibly resilient and never let his disability slow him down.

Herb earned a Bachelor and Master of Business from Wayne State University. He had an entrepreneurial spirit and never truly retired, running a small business until the day he died. He was grateful for the many friends he made during his long career in the veterinary medical supply industry.

Always a “car guy," Herb was passionate about classic American cars of the 1950s and 1960s, especially Corvettes. He proudly served as a judge with the National Corvette Restorers Society.

He will also be remembered for his love of cats, travel, wine, and craft beers.

Funeral services will be private. Donations may be made to the Arizona Animal Welfare League.
