Biography
KELLOGG, Jay Clark Jr., age 86, went to be with his Lord and Savior Friday, January 7, 2022. Jay was born in Columbus, OH on October 19, 1935, and was raised by his adoptive parents, Dr. Jay C. Kellogg and his wife, Rena. He was a graduate of West High School in Columbus, OH and attended Otterbein College in Westerville, OH. Jay joined the US Army in 1953 and was stationed in Fort Knox, KY. He received an honorable discharge in 1954. Jay worked at O.R. Woodyard Funeral Home in Columbus until the fall of 1955, when he decided to move to California. However, he only made it as far west as Dayton, where he worked for Happy Day Laundry for a few months. He began attending Bethel Temple AG and there he met the love of his life and never completed his journey to California. He also worked for NCR and in 1968 began working at the Inland Division of General Motors. He held several positions there and retired from General Motors as a Senior Manufacturing Engineer in May of 2000. The highlight of his career was when he and his wife were selected to represent the Dayton Area GM facilities in Bowling Green, KY at the build of the One Millionth Corvette. Prior to that, he had personally purchased and restored a 1954 Corvette, and was founding member #6 of the seven original founders of the National Corvette Restorers Society, today known as NCRS. Jay was most recently a member of Miamisburg Assembly of God. He traveled to 49 US states and various locations internationally for work, pleasure and church mission trips. With his family being his priority, he was a devoted husband, father and grandfather. Jay loved music and hymns and was gifted at playing both the organ and piano. He is preceded in death by his parents, Dr. Jay C and Rena Kellogg, and son Jay Clark Kellogg III. His is survived by his wife of 65 years, Delores J Kellogg; daughter, Maureen “Mona” Ellis and husband Bart; son, Craig Kellogg and wife Sandy; six grandchildren, Matthew (Julianne) Ellis, Marissa (Ruben) Olivarez, Caleb Ellis, Mikaela (Austin) Myers, Laklyn Kellogg, and Lauren Kellogg; four great-grandchildren, Ruben Olivarez II, Quinn Ellis, Lillian Olivarez, and Jay Ellis. Family will greet friends from 9:00 – 10:00 am on Monday, January 10, 2022, at Tobias Funeral Home - Beavercreek Chapel located at 3970 Dayton-Xenia Road. Funeral service will follow at 10:00 am.
