Wayne was an Engineer by education at NC State University but just did not like the corporate environment so he started “fixing” totaled Corvette back in the early 1970’s. One thing led to another and Womble Corvettes and Specialty was formed. For 40 plus years Wayne fixed Corvettes and other specialty cars and became probably the most knowledgeable person on C1 – C2 –C3 Corvette fiberglass bodies in the world. Wayne was always ready to share his wealth of knowledge with any NCRS member who asked. Wayne’s other passions included Civil War reenactment as a Confederate, to a point where he built his own cannon to take to “war”, and golf. He will be greatly missed by the Corvette world.
