Biography
John Brock was born in Beaumont, Texas circa 1945 but lived most of his life in the Houston area. He was bitten by the car bug early. While he liked many types and brands of cars, he certainly had an affinity for Chevrolets and Corvettes. Among his favorites were: his 1957 Top Flight Corvette 283/270; his 1967 Top Flight Corvette 427 convertible; and his 1968 Corvette autocross car. By the late 1980’s John had built a collection of around 20 cars.

John started out working as a travel agent while moonlighting by painting cars for friends and acquaintances. That quickly morphed into a thriving collision repair business sporting a substantial workforce and a wonderful custom-built Art Deco office/showroom to display his finest cars.

He participated in the inaugural 1982 NCRS National Road Tour to Bend, Oregon by driving his 1967 427 convertible from Houston to Bend (over 5,000 mile round trip in real side pipe car!). He followed with at least 3 more National Road Tours, including: 1984 Copper Mountain, Colorado, (’67 convertible); 1985 NCRS/Nomad convention and Road Tour (‘55 Nomad); 1989 NCRS Bend, Oregon (’67 convertible). And let’s don’t forget the late 80’s Monterey Historic Races in which he raced his Top Flight ’57 Corvette.

John was a ‘car guy’ through and through! He loved combing old wrecking yards and considered it a near religious experience. He was a soft-spoken guy with a dry sense of humor. John was married to Dolli, with sons, Chris and Travis. He passed away in 1990 at age of 45. Way too early. We miss you buddy!
