Ten (10) NCRS Road Tours are planned to converge on the 2022 National Convention location in Mobile, AL. We have a great Last Night Out dinner planned for Saturday July, 23rd where all our road tours meet for the ‘last night’ before the start of the National Convention. The road tours are an unforgettable way to see the USA in your Corvette with your Corvette Friends!

The 2022 National Road Tours are now set. The road tour leaders are busy planning each leg and promise to make it a memorable ride to Mobile, AL. Tenative plans, places of interest and stops are described below. Make sure you register early and pick the tour you want to travel with. As usual, a great last night out celebration is planned. Some of the thoughts and highlights of each tour appear below. The application for the road tour appears on p 94 of the January-February Driveline. Detailed information for routes and lodging will be provided to each member after you have registered for the Road Tour.

Deadline to Register for Road Tour is May 19th, 2022 All cars must be registered, licensed and insured to be driven on public highways.

Register online with your convention registration, or you can use the paper form if you wish to register by mail. Remember there is an additional fee for mail in registrations.

Canadian Road Tour: Kay & Scott Sinclair

4 overnights until we reach Mobile, AL! Don’t expect it to be much Interstate driving, as rural roads are much more interesting!

Starting out from Bolton, ON, on Tuesday, July 19: Head west through rural Ontario, crossing into Michigan at the Windsor/Detroit border. Approx. 275 miles.

Wednesday July 20: From Michigan into Indiana with a probable overnight stop near Indianapolis. Approx. 300 miles.

Thursday July 21: From Indianapolis, we’ll do back roads into Bowling Green, KY, with a tour of the National Corvette Museum. Approx. 235 miles.

Friday, July 22: From Bowling Green, through Tennessee into Alabama. Expected stop in Tuscaloosa, AL. Approx. 310 miles.

Saturday, July 23: From Tuscaloosa into Mobile, AL, for the Last Night Out Celebration. Approx. 200 miles

Carolina Road Tour: Led by Jimmy Gregg

We will start with the best BBQ in NC for lunch (Smoky Mountain BBQ - West Jefferson, NC).

We will then proceed to drive the “Snake” (489 curves), finishing our first day in Morristown, TN (TBD).

On the second day we will travel through the scenic mountains of Western NC to travel the “Tail of the Dragon” (318 curves), finishing our day in Gadsden, AL at the Fairfield Inn.

The third and last day we will travel to Birmingham and tour the Barber Motorsports Museum which houses the worlds largest motorcycle collection (1800 at last count)

We then drive to Mobile, AL for the Last Night Out, short and sweet drivers tour

Central Pennsylvania Road Tour: Led by Gary and Andrea Dukeman

The Central PA Tour will be a trailer tour in 2022. It will leave Carlisle, PA July 21st and travel along route 81 with the first stop at the Biltmore Estate in NC. Next stop will be in the Memphis area and then on to the Convention and Last Night Out location in Mobile, AL.

Mid-Atlantic Road Tour: Led by Steve Gansky

We will meet at Dover International Speedway on Monday July 18th at 9 AM arriving at the convention on Saturday July 23rd.

After touring the Speedway we head to Norfolk, VA, Washington, NC, Wilmington, NC, Charleston, SC, Savannah, GA, Columbia, AL and then Mobile for the Last Night Out event.

Lots of sights to see including the Military Aviation Museum in Virginia Beach, the National Museum of the Mighty 8th Air Force, the Wilmington Railroad Museum, a Carriage Tour thru Charleston, a Harbor Boat Tour in Savannah, Kitty Hawk National Monument, the Battleship North Carolina and more. Join us for a memorable few days.

Northwest Road Tour: Led by Mike Doty

The Northwest Tour will leave Yakima, WA , July 13th and travel to Ogden, UT.

From Ogden we will move onto Highlands Ranch, CO, July 14th and join up with the Rocky Mountain tour.

These combined tours will move to Mobile via the route and timeframe detailed in the Rocky Mountain Tour below.

Ohio Road Tour: Led by Jerry & Barb Hilbert

7/17/2022, a picnic @ the Hilbert Home on Sunday.

7/18/2022 Tour will start Monday at the Creation Museum in Petersburg, Kentucky. Then drive to Kentucky Bourbon Trace Trail in Bardstown, Ky. Stay over Monday night.

7/19/2022, drive to Fairfield Glade, Tn. In the Cumberland Plateau, for a gourmet dinner prepared by a local chef.

7/21/2022 Leave Fairfield Glade Tn., drive to Huntsville, then to Birmingham, Alabama and Stay overnight.

7/22/2022, drive to Gulfport or Biloxi Ms. stay overnight.

7/23/2022, Saturday, drive Coast HWY 90 to Mobile, Al. for LNO.

There are several stops and museum tours planned along the way.

Rocky Mountain Tour: Led by Tom DiRito

Diane and Tom will host a barbeque at their home in the evening of Thursday July 14.

The Road Tour will depart Highlands Ranch, Colorado on Friday July 15 bound for Amarillo, Texas (439 miles) and dinner together at a local landmark restaurant in Amarillo.

Saturday, July 16 it’s on to Del City, Oklahoma (260 miles).

Sunday July 17 we’ll spend touring the Oklahoma City National Museum and Memorial.

On Monday July 18 we are headed to Little Rock, Arkansas (330 miles).

Tuesday July 19 we’ll drive to Pine Bluff, Arkansas (52 miles) to enjoy a private tour of the Arkansas Railroad Museum, then on to Vicksburg, Mississippi (176 miles).

Wednesday July 20 we’ll tour the Vicksburg Military Park.

Thursday July 21 we will depart for Terry, Mississippi (43 miles) to view an NCRS members’ Corvette collection before we head to Natchez, Mississippi via The Natchez Trace Parkway (102 miles).

We’ll spend Friday July 22 touring Natchez, Mississippi.

Saturday July 23 it’s on to the Last Night Out event in Mobile, Alabama, (238 miles).

Total Road Tour mileage: approximately 1,640 miles

Southeast Tour Led by Don Warmuth

Day Zero (July 19th) of the Southeast Tour, will feature an evening BBQ at the Warmuth estate.

The first day of driving, July 20th, will begin at the train capital of South Carolina - Central, SC (Near Clemson.) That first day leaving from Central we will wind through the Appalachian foothills to Chattanooga, TN. The day will be capped off with dinner at the Terminal Brewhouse in “The Chattanooga Choo Choo.”

On day two morning we will tour the Coker Tire Museum with all its great antique cars. After lunch we will take the short drive to Huntsville, AL.

On day three we will tour Rocket City, home to the largest space museum in the world which features an Intuitive Planetarium inside the museum. In the afternoon we will again take a short drive, this time to Tupelo. MS – birthplace of “The King.” We should be able to see the Elvis Drive-in, his birth house, and his church.

On day four, Saturday, July23rd, we will drive south through the beautiful state of Mississippi to the Mobile, AL area and the Last Night Out.

Southern California TourLed by John &Beverly LeGate

John and I hope you can join us as we celebrate the “Year of the ‘72” in our ’72.

The Southern California Road Tour will depart on Tuesday, July 19th from Ontario, CA to Mobile, Alabama.

We will be on the road five nights with the final fifth night in Mobile, AL.

We will be following the Southern route taking the Interstate 10.

Overnight locations are Tuesday, July 19th in Tucson, AZ, Wednesday, July 20th in Van Horn, TX, Thursday, July 21st in Fredericksburg, TX, and Friday, July 22nd in Lake Charles, LA.

On Saturday, July 23rd, we will be joining all the National Road Tours for the last night out in Mobile, AL, our final destination. We are planning some stops along the way and hope you will join us to create some new memories, visit some old memories and just relax and have some fun.

Texas Road Tour Led by John Howell:

Day 0, July 20th, tour participants drive on their own to a meeting at 6 pm in the hotel in Longview, TX.

Day 1 driving begins from Longview, TX with an event that morning, lunch late in the midday and, thereafter, driving toward the Alexandria, LA. (about 180 miles).

The next day we leave Alexandria, LA area heading east toward Laurel, MS and a hotel in Laurel, MS (about 220 miles).

Day 3 the tour leaves the Laurel, MS for an easy drive to Mobile, AL and the Last Night Out event that evening (about 115 miles).

Mobile is just over 500 miles from Longview making this tour an easy one for a three (3) day drive.

We will be visiting historical locations and other points of interest along the way. More details forthcoming. Join us!

All NCRS Road Tours will travel to the “Last Night Out” event. Details to be provided as they are finalized.

You must be an NCRS member to register and participate in these Road Tours. Proof of liability insurance must be sent with your registration showing insurance in effect during the tour dates. All cars must be properly registered, licensed and insured to operate on public highways. Hotel and general route information will be sent upon registration. You will receive Road Tour Hotel information in response to your Road Tour registration and payment. You will receive the detailed route information when you join your Road Tour.
